Chief Financial Officer

General Requirements:
  • At least ten years experience in financial management, including Sr. financial management such as Controller, CFO, or other high level finance manager.
  • Extensive experience with general and financial administrative business practices.
  • Excellent conceptual and working knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as A/P, A/R, GL, payroll and other technical aspects of financial management. Good knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Experienced and skilled at designing and implementing administrative infrastructure to include systems, policies, procedures and training.
  • Very good knowledge and understanding of global financial management issues and the ability to build an efficient and effective structure to meet the company’s international financial management requirements.
  • Analytic skills and ability to self-direct to apply these skills to a company’s business model and specific issues.
  • Strategic thinking capability – skilled in structuring analytical and evaluative processes for developing company strategy. Ability to apply skills to promote company’s strategy.
  • Entrepreneurial. Comfortable working in an unstructured environment and able to multitask and assume a wide variety of responsibilities. Hands-on approach to management.
  • Personnel management and supervisory experience.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or related discipline. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Executive search industry experience preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will ideally have some services exposure.
  • International experience working with Canada and Latin America.
Technical Requirements:
  • Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.
  • Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
  • Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance required to start a business.
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Oversee financial management of foreign operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures.
  • Represent the company externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, and the general public.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
